This test measures FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and can determine if the body is producing excess FSH as a result of low estrogen levels, signalling that the individual may be in the perimenopause stage.
As the female body ages and produces less estrogen, FSH levels increase as the hormone tries to stimulate the ovaries to produce a healthy egg.
