More about crutches

Forearm or underarm crutches?

Underarm crutches are often used for short-term injuries because they’re stable and simple to use. Forearm (elbow) crutches are lighter and more manoeuvrable, so they can suit longer-term use. Children’s and youth sizes are also available. Your doctor or physio will advise which type and walking technique suit your recovery.

Getting the right height

For underarm crutches, the top should sit about two to three finger-widths below your armpit, with the handgrips level with your wrist crease. For forearm crutches, set the handgrip level with your wrist crease, so your elbow bends slightly. Our team can help adjust them in store.
