How Does Needle Gauge Affect Injection Comfort: 31G vs 32G?
Needle gauge plays a significant role in injection comfort. A 32G needle is thinner than a 31G needle, which can lead to less pain during injection. Users often report that the finer gauge needles provide a more comfortable experience, especially for those who require frequent injections. However, the choice between 31G and 32G may also depend on the individual's insulin type and injection technique, as some users may prefer the stability of a slightly thicker needle.
Further research supports the benefits of re-engineered 4mm 32G insulin pen needles in terms of patient comfort and performance.
Patient Comfort & Performance: Re-engineered 4mm 32G Insulin Pen Needles
Since insulin pens were first introduced in 1985, many advances have been made in pen needles (PNs). In this study we evaluated patient-reported outcomes of an investigational newly re-engineered 4 mm × 32G PN, the BD Nano™ 2nd Gen (also known by its “PRO” brand extension in many markets outside of the USA). A 150-mm comparative visual analog scale (VAS) was used to evaluate overall preference (primary endpoint) and several secondary endpoints, including overall comfort, injection pain, and ease of use.
