Description
Mepilex is a highly conformable dressing that absorbs exudates, maintains a moist wound environment and minimises the risk for maceration. The dressing has a Safetac® wound contact layer that is a unique adhesive technology. It minimises pain to patients and trauma to wounds and the surrounding skin at dressing removal.
Mepilex consists of:
- A soft silicone wound contact layer (Safetac)
- A flexible absorbent pad of polyurethane foam
- An outer polyurethane film which is breathable but waterproof
Areas of Use:
Mepilex is intended for a wide range of exuding wounds such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers and traumatic wounds, e.g. skin tears and secondary healing wounds. Mepilex can be used as a protection of compromised and/or fragile skin and may also be used as part of a prophylactic therapy to help prevent skin damage, e.g. pressure ulcers.
How to use Mepilex
Always clean the wound prior to applying a dressing. The dressing should overlap the wound bed by at least 2 cm onto the surrounding skin. Use Tubifast when fixation is necessary.
