About the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS):

The NDIS is a federally funded program which funds Australians aged under 65 who have permanent and significant disability. Funding includes many areas - services, assistive technology/devices, consumables, housing modifications and facilitation to social activities. Services and products must be supplied through a registered provider. SuperPharmacyPlus is a registered NDIS provider.

The NDIS provides participants with a unique and specific plan and may be accessed by participants in a self managed, plan managed or agency managed manner.

Self-Managed

Self-management is when the participant manages their own NDIS funding. It gives the client flexibility and choice to decide what supports they purchase to meet plan goals. Clients have the responsibility to maintain spending to funding allocation and keep their own receipts.

If you have a Self Managed NDIS plan please purchase items as you need to meet your NDIS plan and request a invoice if required.

NDIA Managed / Agency Managed

When a participant is NDIA managed they are able to choose from a range of NDIS registered providers. The provider then claims payment electronically through the Australian Government portal, from participants funding. The NDIA manages the participants book-keeping and records of spending.

At SuperPharmacyPlus we believe in open disclosure of information and thus provide quote on products to the support co-ordinator and participant prior to claiming funds and provision of products. Once we have received an approval of this quote we will quickly claim for funding and provide products efficiently.

Plan Managed

When a participant is plan-managed they have choice and control over the providers they use. A plan manager claims directly from the budget in the participant’s plan to pay providers on their behalf. Plan managers pay providers for the supports and purchases; help keep track of funds; monitor financial reporting for the participant.

Plan Managers can send through a remittance form to our email with the participants name and invoice reference.


What types of supports are funded?

The types of supports that the NDIS may fund for participants include:

  • daily personal activities
  • transport to enable participation in community, social, economic and daily life activities
  • workplace help to allow a participant to successfully get or keep employment in the open or supported labour market
  • therapeutic supports including behaviour support
  • help with household tasks to allow the participant to maintain their home environment
  • help to a participant by skilled personnel in aids or equipment assessment, set up and training
  • home modification design and construction
  • mobility equipment, and
  • vehicle modifications.

There are some kinds of supports that will not be funded or provided by the NDIS

The NDIS Act and the rules made under the NDIS Act also tell us which supports will not be funded by the NDIS.

The NDIS cannot fund a support that is:

  • the responsibility of another government system or community service
  • not related to a person’s disability
  • relates to day-to-day living costs that are not related to a participant's support needs, or
  • is likely to cause harm to the participant or pose a risk to others.
